DM2204A is a digital sound board which supports the Windows .wav file format. It is directly compatible
with uncompressed 8-bit mono PCM files digitized at 8, 11, 16, or 22 KHz, on a PC or an MacIntosh computer. These sound files are then copied into one or more EPROM memory chips via a programming device attached to the
computer. The board contains two chip sockets to hold up to 3 minutes of audio digitized at 11 KHz, or 90 seconds digitized at 22 KHz.
Since the .wav sound files are used directly for playback without going through any
conversion and/or compression, DM2204A offers the best possible sound quality among all digital players. Most other file formats (such as MP3) are compressed and do not preserve the sound quality completely. With the cost of CF
cards being so low, compressed file formats just don’t make sense in most industrial applications.
Designed to be a stand alone device, DM2204A can be powered by a single voltage supply and output to speakers directly.
Batteries can be used thanks to the board’s low power consumption. Sound playback can be activated by a number of devices such as push buttons, motion sensors and PLCs. Standard interfaces include Direct, Binary and Sequential.
RS232 and other custom interfaces are available by special request. There is a 1-watt power amplifier built in.
