SelfTalker POP series offers low cost voice output to both temporary and permanent POP
displays. Its sound quality is among the best in the market, and the adjustable volume control is just one of the many features of the POP series.
Contained in the compact plastic case are the circuit board, a motion
sensor (if applicable), a speaker and a battery holder for four AA batteries. A sliding cover on the front makes it easy to change batteries without disassembling the unit. In addition to batteries, AC power is also useful with
an optional power adaptor. Two mounting ears on the side are provided for easy installation. The case is not tamper proof, so the POP units should usually be protected from public access.
The POP series offers player
models only. The message is usually pre-programed into the unit at the factory. There is a small, one time setup charge for creating a master chip. Turn around time is usually less than one week if the units are in stock.
The POP3000 models can also be programmed by users who have an EPROM programmer.
The unit is equipped with either an internal motion sensor or an external push button for activating the message. In order to save battery
life in high traffic areas, the motion sensor has a preset delay between activations. This delay time can be customized at the factory if necessary. There is no delay when the push button is used.
There are two different
lines in the POP series: the POP800 and the POP3000. The POP800 uses OTP technology and the message length is limited to 8 seconds. The POP3000 uses EPROM technology and offers up to 2 minutes of higher quality sound. Each line
offers both motion sensor and push button models.
In addition to the standard single-message playback mode, the POP3000 line also supports the sequential playback mode which allows a number of messages to be played
sequentially, one per activation. This feature is truly unique and opens up many application possibilities.
