VP1410A is a multi-segment sound playback chip which uses external EPROM for data storage.
The chip contains a DAC and can access up to 10 sound segments of different length. Each segment is activated via its own trigger pin. Memory addressing is handled by the chip itself. No microprocessor control is needed. Simple
logic pulses are used to start/stop the playback operation. A basic design can be constructed with the chip and a few more components.
VP1410A employs the Continuously Variable Slope Delta (CVSD) compression technique
with variable sampling rates from 24 to 128 Kbps. Samping clock can be generated internally with a simple R/C network, or an external clock can be used. Operated with a single 5V supply, VP1410A is a low power device suitable
for battery operated applications.
For VP1410A based designs, VP880 QuikVoice Development System must be used for sound development. VP880 is a computer based sound digitization, editing and management system. After the
sound is developed, it is programmed into EPROM chips with a standard EPROM programmer. Eletech also provides sound development and programming service to customers who do not want to do it themselves.
