DM2204A is a digital sound module which supports the Windows WAV file
format. It is directly compatible with uncompressed 8-bit mono PCM files digitized at 8, 11.025, 16, or 22.05 KHz. These sound files are then copied into one or two EPROM chips via a programming device attached to the computer.
The module has two sockets to hold up to 3 minutes of audio digitized at 11.025 KHz, or 90 seconds digitized at 22.05 KHz. Although the sound quality is not as good as our MP3 players, it is close to AM radio.
Designed for stand alone operation, DM2204A can be powered by a single voltage supply and output to speakers directly. Batteries can be used thanks to the board’s low power consumption. Sound playback can be activated by a number of devices
such as push buttons, motion sensors and PLCs.
